Stonehenge requires a pre-booked, timed entry ticket. You cannot purchase tickets at the gate ÔÇö all visitors must book in advance online. Here's how to do it correctly from Salisbury.
Step 1: Visit english-heritage.org.uk
All Stonehenge bookings are made through the official English Heritage website. Select the Visit Stonehenge page, then Tickets. Choose your date, the number of adults, children and concessions. You'll then be offered available timed entry slots.
Step 2: Choose a Timed Entry Slot That Matches Your Shuttle
The Salisbury to Stonehenge Shuttle departs Salisbury at 10:05, 11:05, 12:05, 13:05, 14:05 and 15:05 daily. The journey takes 35 minutes. So if you take the 10:05 shuttle, you'll arrive at Stonehenge at approximately 10:40. Choose an entry slot starting at 10:30 or 11:00 to match.
Use this simple rule: your Stonehenge entry time = your shuttle departure time + 35 minutes (rounded to the nearest 30 minutes).
Step 3: Book the Shuttle
Once your Stonehenge ticket is confirmed, book your shuttle seat at salisburytostonehenge.com. Select the matching departure time and your preferred return. You'll receive a booking reference by email.
Membership
English Heritage members enter free. Stonehenge is included in the EH membership and the EH/Historic England Overseas Visitor Pass. If you're visiting multiple English Heritage sites, membership can be worth purchasing.
Don't Leave It Too Late
Stonehenge sells out for specific time slots, particularly during school holidays, Bank Holidays and summer weekends. Book at least 2ÔÇô3 weeks in advance for peace of mind in peak season.
