Winchester and Stonehenge: a perfect combination

Winchester is itself one of England’s most historic cities — the ancient capital of Wessex and home to Winchester Cathedral, Great Hall, and the Westgate Museum. Combining Winchester with a Stonehenge visit via Salisbury gives you a genuinely exceptional day across 3,000 years of English history.

The short train hop to Salisbury also opens up Salisbury Cathedral (the tallest medieval spire in Britain) and the city’s medieval centre. Many visitors from Winchester spend the morning in Salisbury before taking the shuttle to Stonehenge in the afternoon.
